Why you should invest in vehicle tracking system?

You might have seen various advertisements describing benefits of GPS for tracking vehicles.  All vehicle tracking systems seems to have same features. But in actual there are lots of differences in different tracking systems and not all are same. Although you can easily find confusing material on many sites explaining how GPS for vehicle tracking works , today I will explain you the mechanics and difference in different vehicle tracking devices in a much simpler way . This will surely helps you to choose a suitable one for yourself.

GPS is basically stands for Global Positioning System that is worldwide radio-navigation system which consists of constellation of 24 satellites and their ground stations. Initially GPS system was funded and controlled by U.S Department of Defense for military purposes. But now civil users are also allowed to use GPS services to find location without any restriction or fee. There are many civil users worldwide to use GPS for tracking vehicle. Some use it to manage their fleet, where as some use it to monitor assets or their kids.

Satellite signals send by GPS are received and processed by receiver in GPS for tracking vehicles to provide exact location, speed and time. To gather information from GPS, it requires at least three active satellites .GPS for tracking vehicles receives signals from these GPS satellites whereby each of these three satellites knows the exact distance from the other satellites in its proximity.  Based on the time taken by a signal to reach the vehicle tracking receiver from each satellite, receiver calculates its exact location on the ground.

Some tracking devices store all information speed, route traversed, time etc within the vehicle tracking system known as passive devices where some send real time information to a system or centralized database via a modem within the vehicle tracking device on a regular intervals are known as active or real time device. Passive vehicle tracking system stores data in an internal memory or on a memory card of device which can be later stored or view on a computer. This data can be used by fleet managers for analysis and finding optimum ways to manage fleet.

An active vehicle tracking system or real-time vehicle tracking system automatically sends the information to a central tracking portal or system in real-time. Real-time vehicle tracking systems are usually a better option for fleet management or monitoring of kids or elderly parents while they are traveling away  since it provides the  exact information where your loved ones are, are they where on the location where they were supposed to be during a journey. Vehicle tracking devices spy the activities of drivers or kids.

It provides various alerts to monitor and implement restrictions on driver or teenagers while driving. Geo-fence, Geo-path and speed limit are few of the alerts that can be set to restrict Geo-graphical area or path and speed limit during journey. The above blog will surely helps you to understand what basically GPS system is and what different GPS systems are available in market. Depending on the use one can choose active or passive GPS for vehicle tracking.
